He stated that the convict frequently went to the complainant’s shop to make purchases. The complainant had a storefront where she sold food in front of her home.

On December 14, 2023, the prisoner paid GH₵2 to visit the complainant at her home, according to Chief Inspector Aziati. She further stated that the complainant escorted the convict to her shop, where she was able to purchase soap for GH₵2.

He claimed that once the prisoner paid for the soap and left, the complainant noticed that her Infinix Smart 6 plus, which she had left on a table outside her shop and was worth GH₵1,200, had been stolen.

According to Chief Inspector Aziati, the complainant called a neighbor next to her business to ask them to call her phone number so she could get in touch with the convict, believing instantly that he was the one who had taken her phone.

The complainant’s neighbor called and it went through, but there was no answer, he said. Shortly after, one Godsway, a mobile money merchant and a witness in the case, answered the call with his own phone and inquired as to whether the complainant’s phone was missing.

The complainant told the witness that her phone had been stolen, which is why she was calling, but no one responded, according to Chief Inspector Aziati.
