We can’t cancel all taxes we promised, we will rather rationalize some – President John Mahama Speaks
The President of Ghana, John Mahama, has clarified rumors about canceling the E-Levy and betting taxes after his inauguration. He stated that he won’t be able to cancel them as previously promised, but instead plans to rationalize them
In a video that has gained traction online, President Mahama explained that the former government led by Nana Addo went to the IMF for funding to support the country’s economy, of which these taxes are used for repayment of the loan
He also assured Ghanaians that they will work around the clock to reduce and rationalize those taxes.
