Three people arrested in Kasoa over suspected baby theft
The police in Kasoa, Central Region, have detained three suspects in connection with the theft of a newborn.
The accused brought the infant to Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region while pretending that she had died.
Magdalene Nana Adwoa Boafo, 28, Faustina Binney, 32, and Eunice Koomson, 36, are the suspects that the Kasoa Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit is presently holding while they help with their investigations.
As per the gathered reports, the mother of the infant who was selling water in traffic at Ofaakor during her eighth month of pregnancy was approached by Nana Adwoa Boafo, who is considered the primary suspect, and she was offered financial assistance.
Later, when Eunice and Faustina claimed to be genuinely offering support, she presented her to the other two suspects.
The mother was moved from Ofaakor-Jei River by the suspects, who also rented a residence for her in Lamptey, Kasoa. They continued to provide the mother with meager kinds of support until July 10, 2024, when she gave birth at the Kasoa Polyclinic.

After the mother and the child, who was in good health, were released from the hospital, things took a turn for the worse. The three suspects presented Abigail to a different woman who claimed to be a member of the medical staff at Korle-Bu and that it was advised that the child be brought there for treatment.
But two days later, the three suspects went back to the victim, and while sobbing uncontrollably, they informed the mother—to her shock—that the baby had died.
