Stonebwoy Shares Amusing Video of His Graduation Preparations Ahead of GIMPA Commencement Ceremony
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Stonebwoy, the dancehall and Afropop sensation from Ghana, is scheduled to receive his degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
This accomplishment follows his 2021 return to academia following a prior break in his studies at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), where he left his business administration degree to pursue a career in music.
A humorous video that Stonebwoy—real name Livingstone Etse Satekla—posted on his Snapchat and other social media platforms let fans in on his enthusiasm.
The artist is shown in the video wearing his mortarboard and joyfully yelling “graduation,” with his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, joining him in the background.
The couple’s playful moment served as a tribute to Stonebwoy’s wife’s encouragement and support, which were important in his decision to return to the classroom.
In the past, Stonebwoy has stated that Dr. Louisa bought the admission forms for him and even urged him to return to school.
Stonebwoy’s love for public administration—a discipline he feels is essential to advancing the welfare of the people—has driven his work at GIMPA.
In an interview with Citi TV in November 2021, Stonebwoy discussed why he chose to go into public administration, stressing that he wanted to have a constructive influence outside of the music industry. “I believe I am becoming close friends with them [GIMPA].” I think public administration is a field that I would love to study more about and advance in because it deals with the public,” he stated.
