Renowned Nollywood Actor and Singer, Onyeka Onwenu, Passes Away at 72

It is official that Ms. Onyeka Onwenu, the renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress, has passed away.
According to reports, Ms. Onwenu collapsed at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos on Tuesday night after performing at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday celebration.
It is really depressing. After her performance at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday celebration today, Onyeka Onwenu collapsed.
“She was brought to Reddington Hospital and was unable to arrive,” the newspaper was informed by the unidentified eyewitness.
Onwenu took the stage to perform while she was at a friend’s birthday celebration, according to family-friendly sources. She barely got back into her seat before she passed out.

She was taken to the Victoria Island hospital by emergency personnel, who arrived very quickly. There, she was eventually declared deceased. It is unknown what caused the death.
Onwenu, a versatile artist whose career spanned over four decades, was born on January 31, 1952.
She was a well-known actor, journalist, politician, and singer in addition to songwriter.
Pop, reggae, and highlife were all combined in Onwenu’s music, which also frequently tackled social and political themes. Her most well-known songs are “Iyogogo,” “Ekwe,” and “One Love.”
