Otumfuo Strips Three Chiefs of Their Titles Over Galamsey Involvement
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has demoted numerous Ashanti chiefs for their involvement in questionable dealings.
The chiefs include Sabronum Gyaasehene, the Akyeamhene, and the Baamuhene, all of whom have been leaders in their respective communities.
According to the allegation, the Asantehene distooled them because they participated in galamsey activities in their various zones. Illegal mining, known locally as Galamsey, has long been a national issue in Ghana.

While the government is doing everything necessary to put an end to Galamsey, it appears to be a thriving business for a select few. Chiefs and other high-profile figures have been accused on numerous occasions of being behind the Galamsey enterprises.
According to Otumfuo, he learned long ago that the above-mentioned chiefs were participating in the act but chose to observe them for a while. After determining that they were genuinely engaging in the deed, he decided to distool them immediately.
