Ghanaian Man Abdul Hakim Awal Sets Record for Longest Tree Hug, Earns Guinness World Record
Abdul Hakim Awal, a Ghanaian, has been inducted into the coveted Guinness World Records roster following his pursuit of recognition for his extraordinary accomplishments.
Abdul Hakim holds the record for hugging a tree for the longest duration, according to GWR. Abdul clutched a tree for more than twenty-four hours before this.

After the man hugged a tree for hours, GWR identified him as being from Ghana. The official GWR website published an article confirming Abdul’s new record.
The longest time to hug a tree is 24 hr 21 min 4 sec, achieved by Abdul Hakim Awal (Ghana) in Kumasi, Ghana, from 22 to 23 May 2025. Abdul attempted this record to highlight the importance of nature conservation,”
On May 22, 2024, Abdul set out to break the record for the longest tree hug. He said that the action was taken to emphasize how important it is to preserve nature.
Abdul completed his GWR quest and turned in his proof in twenty-one hours, twenty-one minutes, and four seconds. After carefully examining the data, the GWR staff declared Abdul the new record holder on their website
