DJ Loft Makes History as First Ghanaian DJ to Headline Apple Music Africa Now Mix for April
In a proud milestone for Ghana’s music scene, Solomon Obeng, widely known as DJ Loft, has become the first Ghanaian DJ to be featured in Apple Music’s esteemed Africa Now Mix series.
“I was shocked when I got the DM from the Apple Music executive,” DJ Loft shared. “I didn’t see it coming at all, and it’s such an honour to be the first Ghanaian DJ featured in the series. I’ve been doing mixes for years, and to see it reach this level is truly a dream come true.”
Although provided with a pre-curated playlist, DJ Loft elevated the mix by creatively blending and remixing the tracks into an impressive sonic experience. His ability to transform a standard set into a dynamic mashup highlights his unmatched artistry. He now joins the ranks of top African DJs such as DJ Spinall, TXC, DJ Zinhle, Oskido, DJames, and DJ Consequence—solidifying his status as a pioneer and proudly representing Ghana on the global stage.
With over a decade of experience, DJ Loft has built a reputation for delivering electrifying mixes that resonate beyond borders. His Cups and Bass series, created alongside MC/Hypeman Kojo Manuel, has earned international acclaim. In 2021, he caught global attention with a feature on the renowned Ebro Show, further showcasing his worldwide appeal.

DJ Loft’s accolades speak volumes—he’s won Mixtape of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards three years in a row (2021–2023), and has also been named Mobile DJ of the Year and Event DJ of the Year. In 2023, he was honoured as Best DJ at the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, proving his place among the elite in the DJing world.
Describing his Africa Now Mix, DJ Loft said, “This mix is a celebration of the continent’s heartbeat—a powerful blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afro-House, and African Hip-Hop. It’s about rhythm, flow, and storytelling through music. It’s nonstop energy—from Africa to the world.”
