Renowned Central Region rapper, Okintoe, has shed light on the struggles faced by musicians in the region, particularly at the Central Music Awards.
In a recent interview with Kofy Jesse TV, Okintoe revealed that artists in the Central Region are paid as little as 2,000 GHC per performance, including at the recently concluded Central Music Awards. Meanwhile, musicians from other regions receive significantly higher payments.

The rapper expressed his disappointment with the organization of the awards ceremony, describing it as poorly managed and unfair to Cape Coast-based artists. He also pointed out disparities in performance fees, with some artists receiving much more than others.
These concerns have sparked conversations about fairness and transparency within the Ghanaian music industry.
African dancehall icon Shatta Wale might find these low rates amusing, emerging artists must understand that growth in the industry requires starting small, accepting modest fees, and gradually working towards higher earnings as they gain recognition.
