Kuami Eugene Has More Hits Than Shatta Wale, DJ Sliming Claims, Causing Uproar
A recent post on X by well-known Ghanaian entertainment industry personality DJ Sliming sparked debate.
He asserted that dancehall superstar Shatta Wale lacked the hits that highlife musician Kuami Eugene has. This comment went viral very fast, sparking a heated discussion on social media.
The post was made in the midst of debates that compared the late great highlife performer Daddy Lumba to Shatta Wale. But DJ Sliming’s remark changed the conversation, putting Kuami Eugene directly in line with Shatta Wale.
Many Ghanaians found the allegation offensive and voiced their dissatisfaction in the post’s comments section.
Shatta Wale’s supporters cited his long career and multiple hits to support their claim that he is still the most important musician in Ghana and that there is no one else to compare to him in terms of hits.
However, a tiny minority supported DJ Sliming, claiming that Kuami Eugene had accumulated a significant amount of hits since entering the business during the MTN Hitmaker competition.
