Kurl Songx Defends Sarkodie’s “Jennifer Lomotey” Lyrics, Says Krobos Should Be Grateful

There was a lot of controversy surrounding some of Sarkodie’s lyrics after Kurl Songx released his song “Jennifer Lomotey” in 2017.

Many people came out to criticize the Sarkcess Music CEO for utilizing certain lines they felt were offensive and disparaging about their women, especially the Krobo youth.

The same lyrics caused the human rights organization, the New Ghana Social Justice Forum, to express more concerns around July 2024. They petitioned the French Embassy and the event organizers to forbid him from playing.

Sarkodie was accused by the group of promoting misogyny in the song.

The former Highly Spiritual signed musician who owns the song feels that the lyrics have been misunderstood despite all of the criticism and concerns expressed.

Speaking on Abeiku Santana’s drivetime show on Okay FM, Kurl Songx claimed that Sarkodie was merely attempting to elevate the women of the krobo area.

He maintained that Sarkodie was making the same point in the song and not the understanding that it was out there, asking what male would not appreciate his woman to be a little wicked when it came to activities in the bedroom.

The “Saneko” crooner continued, saying that since Sarkodie merely attempted to compliment them, the ladies of Krobo Land ought to be content rather than indignant.
